Brand & Philosophy
What is NATÜRLICH?
NATÜRLICH is a doctor-founded European skincare brand created for daily care that feels natural to live with.
We began with sun care because sunscreen should be one of the easiest things to use every day—but for many people, it isn’t.
Is NATÜRLICH only a sunscreen brand?
No. Sun care is our first essential, but NATÜRLICH is growing into a broader world of skincare and everyday wellbeing.
Our next essentials are being quietly crafted for skin, body, travel, and life outdoors.
Who founded NATÜRLICH?
NATÜRLICH was founded by Dr. med. Yasemin Tanyildizi, a medical doctor based in Germany.
Her experience in medicine, science, motherhood, and life close to the sea shaped the way we think about care: thoughtful, practical, and guided by both skin and nature.
What does doctor-founded mean?
It means NATÜRLICH was created from a medical perspective—not simply from a beauty trend.
It reflects how we think about skin, ingredients, daily use, and trust. Our products are not a replacement for medical advice, so if you have a specific skin concern, we always recommend speaking with your doctor or dermatologist.
Why did NATÜRLICH begin with sun care?
Because sun care touches so many parts of life: skin health, family, travel, the sea, and the way we spend time outdoors.
Our founder wanted a sunscreen she could feel good using on herself and the people she loves—one that felt comfortable on skin and more aligned with the natural world that inspires us.
What does “natural skincare” mean to NATÜRLICH?
For us, natural skincare is not about chasing a label.
It means choosing ingredients with purpose, staying close to nature, and using science to create products that feel good enough to become part of everyday life.
Is NATÜRLICH a clean beauty brand?
We don’t build our identity around words like “clean,” “non-toxic,” or “chemical-free.”
They can sound reassuring, but they are often too vague. We prefer clear ingredient lists, responsible claims, and honest explanations of what we use, what we leave out, and why.
Mineral SPF & Daily Use
Why mineral sunscreen?
We chose mineral UV protection because it fits the NATÜRLICH approach: considered, transparent, and close to the skin.
Our Water-Based Mineral Sunscreen SPF30 uses zinc oxide as its mineral UV filter and was created to feel fresh, breathable, and comfortable for everyday wear.
Is mineral sunscreen better than chemical sunscreen?
Not automatically.
Both mineral and chemical sunscreens can offer effective protection when properly formulated, tested, and used correctly. We chose mineral because it aligns with our philosophy and ingredient approach—not because we believe in fear-based comparisons.
What does water-based mean?
It means the texture was designed to feel fresh, lightweight, and breathable on skin.
Our goal was to make mineral sun care feel closer to skincare than traditional sunscreen.
Is SPF30 enough for everyday use?
SPF30 can be a considered choice for everyday routines when applied generously and reapplied as needed.
For long days outdoors, strong sun, swimming, sweating, or towel drying, reapply regularly and pair SPF with shade, sunglasses, hats, and protective clothing.
Can I use it every day, not just at the beach?
Yes. It was made for everyday life—not only beach days.
Use it in your morning routine, before city light, travel, outdoor time, or the small daily moments when your skin is exposed to daylight.
Can I wear it under makeup?
Yes. Apply it as the last step of skincare and let it fully absorb before makeup.
For the smoothest result, warm it between your palms first, press it into skin, then let the texture settle before applying foundation, concealer, or powder.
Can I use it on face and body?
Yes. It was designed for both face and body.
Apply to exposed areas such as the face, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, and anywhere else your skin meets daylight.
Skin Compatibility
Which skin types is it suitable for?
NATÜRLICH was designed for everyday use across skin types, including dry, normal, oily, and blemish-prone skin.
Because every skin is different, we recommend checking the full ingredient list and patch testing first if your skin is sensitive, reactive, or currently irritated.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
NATÜRLICH was created with everyday skin comfort in mind and has been dermatologically tested.
Still, sensitive skin is personal. We recommend patch testing before first use and introducing any new product slowly into your routine.
Will it break me out?
No skincare product can promise to work perfectly for every person.
Our sunscreen was designed with a lightweight, water-based feel to sit comfortably on skin. If you are blemish-prone or reactive, start with a patch test and see how your skin feels over several uses.
Will it sting my eyes?
NATÜRLICH was created for everyday comfort, including use around the eye area, and early user feedback has been positive.
We don’t position it as ophthalmologist-tested, so we avoid absolute eye-area claims. As with any sunscreen, avoid direct contact with eyes. If contact happens, rinse well with water.
Is it suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Many people prefer mineral sunscreen during pregnancy or breastfeeding because of its straightforward filter approach.
NATÜRLICH uses zinc oxide as its mineral UV filter and provides the full ingredient list for transparency. For personal medical concerns, we recommend sharing the ingredient list with your healthcare provider.
Where can I find the full ingredient list?
You can find the full ingredient list on the product page under Ingredients.
We keep the full INCI easy to access so you can review exactly what is in the product before using it.
Is it fragrance-free?
We do not currently position NATÜRLICH Water-Based Mineral Sunscreen SPF30 as fragrance-free.
If you are sensitive to scent or specific ingredients, please review the full INCI before use and patch test first.
Should I patch test before using it?
Yes, especially if your skin is sensitive, acne-prone, reactive, or currently irritated.
Apply a small amount to a discreet area and observe how your skin responds before using it more broadly.
Claims & Responsibility
What does dermatologically tested mean?
It means the product has undergone skin compatibility testing under dermatological supervision.
It is a helpful reassurance, but not a guarantee that no one will ever react. Skin is individual, so patch testing is always a good idea if you are unsure.
What kind of SPF or UVA testing supports the product?
NATÜRLICH Water-Based Mineral Sunscreen SPF30 is positioned as broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
We believe sun protection claims should be clear, responsible, and easy to understand. As we grow, we’ll continue to communicate product testing and claim support as transparently as possible.
Why doesn’t NATÜRLICH simply say “reef-safe”?
Because "reef-safe" does not have one universally recognised definition.
What we can point to is more specific: the foundational research on this topic comes from Downs et al. (2016), published in Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, which found that oxybenzone deforms coral larvae, damages their DNA, and increases coral bleaching, even at low concentrations. In 2022, a Stanford University research team went further and identified the mechanism by which coral and sea anemones can convert oxybenzone into compounds that form damaging radicals under sunlight exposure.
Zinc oxide, the mineral filter we use, works differently: it sits physically on the skin's surface rather than being absorbed in the same way as many organic UV filters, and is not associated with the same oxybenzone-specific mechanism. That distinction, not a marketing label, is why we formulate the way we do.

Why does NATÜRLICH avoid certain UV filters linked to hormone research?
Several studies have examined whether ingredients such as oxybenzone or octinoxate interact with the human hormonal system, since they can be absorbed into the body through the skin.
Laboratory and population studies have raised open questions here: some research has associated higher oxybenzone exposure with lower testosterone levels in adults and adolescents, and a recent review has examined its endocrine effects in the specific context of PCOS. At the same time, the evidence is not unanimous. Reviews of human and epidemiological research still flag open questions around testosterone, thyroid function, fertility, and mixed exposure that require further research.
Our approach is precautionary rather than alarmist: as long as these questions remain scientifically unresolved, we choose mineral filters instead of ingredients that continue to be studied for hormonal activity.

What role does sea buckthorn play in the formula?
Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) has been part of traditional natural medicine for centuries and is now the subject of scientific research. Its bioactive compounds—flavonoids, unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, and carotenoids—have been studied for anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that support skin barrier research.
Particularly relevant to sun care: a study on human skin cells, including keratinocytes and fibroblasts, found that sea buckthorn seed oil reduced UV-induced disturbances in redox balance and supported the cells' own antioxidant systems.
For us, sea buckthorn is not a trend ingredient added for its story—it is a researched active we include alongside mineral UV protection.

This section summarises published ingredient research and does not represent a clinical claim about any NATÜRLICH product.
Why don’t you use terms like “chemical-free” or “non-toxic”?
Because those terms can be misleading.
Everything is made of chemicals, including water and botanical ingredients. We prefer precise language: mineral UV filters, clear ingredient lists, and transparent explanations.
Why do you avoid parabens and phthalates entirely, rather than just some of them?
A recent systematic review identified the most commonly discussed hormonally active substances in cosmetic products as parabens, phthalates, benzophenones, and triclosan. Its authors note that these substances rarely appear in isolation—daily use of multiple cosmetic products can create mixed exposures that may have additive effects, even when each individual ingredient is considered safe on its own.
The European Commission has also prioritised several cosmetics-relevant substances for endocrine-disruptor assessment, including benzophenone-3, propylparaben, triclosan, octocrylene, homosalate, and octinoxate. A separate consumer-product analysis found 55 different endocrine-disrupting or asthma-associated compounds across common products.
Rather than replacing individual "problem ingredients" one at a time, we build every formula from the ground up without this entire substance class. It is a more demanding approach, but it is the one consistent with how we think about the body.

How does NATÜRLICH think about sustainability?
We see sustainability as a responsibility, not a slogan.
For us, that means thoughtful formulation, ingredient transparency, packaging choices made with practicality in mind, and avoiding vague environmental claims when the definitions are not clear enough.
What packaging do you use?
Our sunscreen uses minimal packaging designed to be as environmentally considered as possible and easy to recycle.
The pouch format can evacuate up to 99.5% of the product, helping cut down product waste.
What is NATÜRLICH free from?
NATÜRLICH is microplastic-free and formulated without parabens, silicones, oxybenzone, octinoxate, or sulfates.
Our no-bads list: no parabens, no silicones, no oxybenzone, no octinoxate, and no sulfates.
Is it vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. NATÜRLICH Water-Based Mineral Sunscreen SPF30 is vegan and cruelty-free.
